What is ChemTool?
ChemTool Switzerland is ASGS Rufener’s web software for managing and using Safety Data Sheets in the business. It links SDS, products, quantities, workplaces, storage locations, QR access, assessments, documents and distribution workflows.
Does ChemTool automatically draft Safety Data Sheets?
No. The software manages, structures, provides and distributes existing SDS. Professional preparation or adaptation is a separate service coordinated with specialist partners.
Can an SDS be checked, updated or prepared for us?
Yes. ASGS Rufener can coordinate sourcing, checking and updating documents and the preparation of SDS or supplements with specialist partners.
What is the difference between a hazardous substance list, chemical inventory and hazardous materials register?
These terms are often used for similar business views. ChemTool centralises products, GHS data, quantities, containers, workplaces and storage locations and produces the required view.
How does QR-code access work?
Employees scan the workplace or storage QR code and open authorised SDS in the browser. No app or user login is required for read-only access.
Are the hazard portfolio and risk assessment the same?
No. The portfolio provides an overview of processes and priorities. The risk assessment examines a real situation, evaluates the risk and documents protective measures.
Is ChemTool an official Suva tool?
No. ChemTool is independent software by ASGS Rufener. The portfolio is based on a published Suva concept; the 5×5 matrix and STOP measures are ChemTool documentation functions.
How does the chemical risk assessment work?
Hazards are recorded for the real situation, then probability and severity are evaluated in the 5×5 matrix. STOP measures, owners and implementation status are documented.
How does automatic SDS distribution work?
Distributors select one SDS or a package by product, language or article number. When a delivered version is replaced, ChemTool can identify the recipients and trigger re-sending.
Can permissions be limited by department?
Yes. Administration and editing take place in the protected portal, and permissions can be limited to relevant areas or departments.
Can ChemTool create work instructions and training material?
Yes. Products assigned to a workplace provide the basis for instructions, training material, labels and other documents generated individually or in bulk.
How does implementation begin?
Existing SDS are imported electronically and assigned to products, manufacturers, languages and versions. Workplaces, storage locations, quantities and permissions are then configured.
